Helpful Tip for a Buyer

Getting pre-approved.

One of the biggest mistakes a potential home buyer makes is to set their sites on a home that is too expensive. Getting pre-approved not only helps you stay within your budget when shopping for a new home, but it also shows that you are serious about buying a home. Make sure to get your pre-approval in writing.

When shopping for a lender, look for a bank, mortgage banker, credit union, savings and loan association, mortgage broker or an online lender. These lenders are known as "legitimate" lenders.

Be wary of lenders who are not up-to-date with interest rates, points, and other costs.
